The Punjab government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a development project at Shri Kali Mata Temple, Patiala.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the project, worth Rs 75.08 crore, will be completed within the stipulated time.

“Today, at Shri Kali Mata Temple, Patiala, the foundation stone of a development project worth 75.08 crore rupees was laid in the temple complex. Under this, arrangements will be made for the beautification of the temple, parking, sarovar, and accommodation for devotees. Respecting people’s faith is our duty,” the CM said.

“We are very fortunate that the service of beautifying this historic temple has come our way,” he added.

“Patiala city, considered the capital of Punjabi culture, holds an important place in history for the Shri Kali Mata Temple, where devotees come from far and wide for darshan,” he further said.

On the occasion, the CM also announced the opening of the Aam Aadmi Clinic for devotees.

“Keeping in mind the health facilities for devotees, an Aam Aadmi Clinic will also be built. Further efforts will be made for the beautification of Patiala city,” the CM announced.

In Patiala, Punjab, Shri Kali Devi Temple is a Hindu temple and was built by the Maharaja of Patiala in 1936. Inspired by devotion, the Maharaja constructed the temple and brought the six-foot-tall idol of Maa Kali and the sacred Paawan Jyot from Bengal to Patiala.

The temple is situated opposite the Baradari Gardens. The deity is also a kul devi of many people. During the Navratras, over the course of nine days, the temple witnesses heavy footfall of devotees.
